For me, home is not a specific place because in my 17 years of life, I have lived in eleven different houses and neighborhoods located in five countries on three continents and have gone to seven schools. Today, my family of six lives in four different cities. So where is home? Right now, I call home an app on my phone that lets me share pictures, videos, and what's happening in my daily life with my family. The same way my family has nested itself into an app; I nest myself into wherever I happen to be living at the time.

Although having a life that resembles a migratory bird more than it does a typical human comes with its minor drawbacks (e.g. no lifelong friends), I cannot think of a better way of growing up and I appreciate that it has made me the person I am today. I am someone who has no trouble navigating the "first day" at a new school or in a new town. I am confident in my ability to "fit in" wherever I go because I have always found friends no matter how different I am to the people there. I'm also confident that no matter how many miles separate me from my family, I will always remain firmly, if virtually, connected to them. I may not know where in the world I will be next year, but I do know that I will feel at home.
